Hospitality Executive Steve Burks Assuming Managing Director Role of New Entity

 CLEARWATER, FL (January 7th, 2022) – Newly formed Solaris Development, LLC is acquiring Sixty West Development, LLC. Sixty West operates as an investment, development and asset management firm. The firm focuses on low-income housing tax credits, opportunity zones, historic preservation and rehabilitation, renewable energy developments, and land utilization. Sixty West serves clients in the United States.  Terms were not disclosed.

After thorough diligence, we create partnerships designed to bring value to communities.   The intention is to facilitate what the U.S. Congress has made available for direct high-impact social investing,” Burks explained.

Solaris is transitioning the impressive track record of Sixty West, which has developed real estate communities and mixed-use assets valued at over $3.5 billion located in over 42 states, consisting of 10,000+ acres of agricultural properties, 20+ extended-stay hotels, 150+ triple-net lease retail stores, 3,000 units of multi-family housing, and the development/management of 120+ Megawatts of renewable energy.

Burks served as the Director of Real Estate for Sixty West Development for the last three years. Burks joined Sixty West Development to lead their hospitality efforts and Opportunity Zone real estate developments. These developments include the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences, Buckhead, GA, the Shrader Hotel, Hollywood, CA, the Kimpton Hotel and Residences, Greenville, SC, The Watermark, Henderson, NV, The Grid, Mesa, AZ, and Clearwater Gardens, Clearwater FL, for a total development pipeline of $685 million.

Burks is a senior Hospitality executive with an extensive background and over 30 years of experience. Burks has held many senior executive positions including many years with Disney Development, Ritz-Carlton Development, and Marriott Vacations.  While at Marriott Vacation Club and Ritz-Carlton, his team developed over 40 properties.
